Selenium

Selenium is an essential trace element required for the function of a number of selenium-dependent enzymes, also known as selenoproteins. At least 25 selenoproteins have been identified with wide ranging metabolic functions that include antioxidant enzyme activity, thyroid hormone function, and a healthy immune response.
